Mettler-Toledo Shares Jump on Strong Earnings

Mettler-Toledo International saw its stock climb 6.7% after reporting solid second-quarter results and announcing an $875 million share buyback program. The precision instrument maker also raised its 2026 outlook, citing stronger demand in China and emerging markets alongside improved margins.

The company's recurring service revenue continues to anchor its business model, though analysts note ongoing exposure to potential tariff and trade headwinds.

Rep. Kaptur Recovering After Sunday Crash

Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur was treated for non-life threatening injuries following a car accident Sunday morning while heading to church. The 80-year-old representative was a passenger when her vehicle was struck. Her office says she's alert and expects to return to her full schedule soon.

First responders from Toledo police and fire were quick to the scene. The traffic division is investigating the incident.

Car Show Rained Out

The third annual Rideau Rides and Rides Car Club show at the Legion has been cancelled after persistent rain in the forecast made it impossible to proceed. Organizers had already shifted to the Monday rain date, but Mother Nature had other plans.

More than 200 vehicles were expected, from antiques to imports. The club thanked everyone for their understanding and won't be rescheduling this year.

Six-Story Duck Returns Downtown

Mama Duck is back at Hollywood Casino for two days this week, standing six stories tall and free to visit from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. The massive inflatable comes with food trucks and merchandise, landing just before Jeep Fest kicks this weekend.
