Mud Hens' Rising Star Sidelined Again
The Toledo Mud Hens' top prospect Josue Briceño is heading to the injured list after an awkward slide into second base left him nursing a right ankle injury. The 21-year-old slugger, already dealing with a spring training wrist issue, has had a tough go of it this season.
With just over two weeks left in the regular season, Briceño's 2026 campaign looks increasingly uncertain. The young catcher-first baseman was finally hitting his stride at Toledo after a strong stint at Double-A Erie.

City Updates
UToledo Honors 9/11 with Stadium Stair Climb
The University of Toledo Athletic Department and Army ROTC are hosting a 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb on Friday, September 11th at Glass Bowl Stadium. The event kicks off with registration at 8 a.m., a ceremony at 8:45 a.m., and the climb at 9:15 a.m., wrapping up by noon. It's a chance to remember those lost and honor the firefighters and police officers who responded that day.
Free parking is available in Area 10, and ROTC will serve breakfast after the climb. Memorial T-shirts are available for purchase. If weather doesn't cooperate, everything moves to Savage Arena. For details, contact Phillip Dunckley at [email protected] or 419-530-2486.
UTFCU Expands with New Heatherdowns Branch
University of Toledo Federal Credit Union just opened its doors at Heatherdowns and Eastgate, bringing banking closer to the thousands of members who call that area home. The credit union, which started with just 14 members 62 years ago, now serves over 5,000 and continues growing.
It's a natural move for a local institution looking to better serve the community it's built over six decades. The new branch joins existing locations on campus and downtown.
