U.S. Open Returns in 2045

Inverness Club will host the U.S. Open again in 2045, marking the fifth time the storied course has welcomed the major championship. It's a long wait, but the announcement puts Toledo ahead of bigger cities that won't see the tournament for decades. The club also has the 2027 U.S. Women's Open and 2029 U.S. Amateur on the calendar.

Downtown Events Getting Coordinated

Toledo's major downtown organizations are finally syncing their calendars for 2026. Instead of adding more events, they're layering existing ones like St. Patrick's Day, Mud Hens Opening Day, and Jeepfest to create bigger momentum. The goal is simple: stop planning in silos and start activating together.

With a $2.9 billion travel economy already in play, leaders think coordinated promotion could push that number even higher. It's a shift that's been decades in the making, and they're inviting local businesses to join in.

Museum Gets a Fresh Look

The Toledo Museum of Art is undergoing its first major reimagining in nearly 40 years. Instead of grouping pieces by region, the collection will now flow chronologically, letting you see ancient China alongside ancient Mediterranean works. Most galleries will close through 2027, but the Glass Pavilion and family center stay open.

It's a once-in-a-lifetime refresh for a place that's been a cornerstone here for generations.

City Updates

New Park Coming to Perrysburg

Perrysburg Township is moving forward with plans to develop a 4-acre park on White Road, thanks to a generous donation from Rich and Carla Brundrett. The site will feature walking trails and a pavilion, with design work already underway and grant funding being pursued to keep costs manageable.

Water Bill Relief Available

Toledo residents who qualify can now enroll in the Water Rate Affordability Program for a 25% discount on water and sewer bills. Income limits range from $31,300 for single-person households up to $108,300 for families of eight.

You'll need to live in the city, have an individual meter, and be on the DPU contract or have landlord authorization. It's a straightforward way to ease monthly utility costs if you're eligible.
