Happy Monday, Toledo’s easing into the first full week of the year — which is perfect if you like quieter plans and practical updates that actually help your week run smoother.
Today’s big theme: a few “good-to-know” changes (including one that starts today), plus a couple easy options if you want to get out of the house without committing to a whole production.
News
Toledo Jeep Fest Registration Is Live
Toledo Jeep Fest is officially gearing up for August 7–9, 2026, and registration is now open. Organizers are already talking about this year being potentially record-breaking, which is your early hint that downtown will be busy that weekend (in a fun way… but still busy).
If you’ve ever wanted to do the parade, Park-N-Shine, or just be downtown for the vibe, this is the “get on the list early” moment. Learn more here
Weekly Bulk Pickup Starts Today (Jan 5)

This is a useful one: starting today, January 5, 2026, Toledo residents can put up to 5 bulk items at the curb each week with regular trash pickup — replacing the old monthly scheduled bulk system. The city says each item must be under 40 lbs, and you no longer need to schedule bulk pickup in advance.
Translation: if you’ve got a “why is this still in my garage?” pile from the holidays, this change makes it way easier to clear out. Learn more here.
City Updates
TMA Glass Studios Are Closed For Maintenance (Short Window)
If you were planning a museum stop around live glassmaking: the Toledo Museum of Art Glass Studios are temporarily closed for annual maintenance. WTOL reports the closure lasts two weeks, and TMA has also posted the Jan 1–14, 2026 shutdown window publicly.
The Glass Pavilion and museum experience can still be a great winter move — just know that studio access/demos may not be available until the shutdown ends. Learn more here.
Community Digest

Toledo’s “Authors!” series is kicking off early in the year at Main Library, and it’s one of those underrated local things that feels bigger than people expect — especially if you like mystery/thrillers or you just want a weeknight plan that’s not the usual dinner loop.
If you’re trying to do more “leave the house” activities in 2026, this is an easy one to start with. Learn more here.
